South Bay Information

South Bay
South Bay War Veterans Park formerly known as the South Bay Provincial Park is situated in northwest Saskatchewan approximately thirty three kilometres southeast of Ile-a-la Crosse, four hundred ninety kilometres northwest of Saskatoon. The park is located off of Highway 155 in between the two communities of Ile-a-la Crosse and Beauval, Saskatchewan. The lands historically known as the South Bay Provincial Park was operated and owned by the Saskatchewan government. It is now operated by Ile-a-la Crosse. South Bay park was transferred over to the municipal government through the Land Transfer Agreement in the Fall of 2003.

The hosting community is Ile-a-la Crosse, the Ile-a-la Crosse Friendship Centre, and various businesses play a major role in putting this event together. The community is a Métis community in Northwest Saskatchewan, with a population of approximately 1600 people and a majority of the population youth (approximately 25% of the population is 25 and under).
